Here we go “Adventuring” in Xanth once more, meeting a horde of the familiar characters while running the gauntlet of a multitide of sins. There is a plot, in which Wenda Woodwife is deserted by her husband, Prince Charming, and needs the help of the “Good Magician Humphrey” on her quest. The next problem is Humphrey’s needing her help on a quest of his own. So off they go on an “Adventure,” the standard form any journey takes in Xanth, meeting a host of characters who sometimes help and sometimes hinder. Meanwhile, Prince Charming is in enough trouble that readers will wonder if he and Wenda will ever be reunited. Xanth remains a land of happy endings, however, and readers can expect the usual amount of enjoyment from this thirty-fourth Xanth tale.
