After escaping the fortress of Pax Tharkas -- and the mighty Red Dragonarmy -- with some 800 slaves, the companions don't have many options. They will either get slaughtered by the Dark Queen's minions or somehow find a way into the legendary dwarven stronghold of Thorbardin. While the ill-tempered wizard Raistlin, his twin brother and master swordsman Caramon, and the knight Sturm Brightblade search the ruined fortress of Skullcap for a key into Thorbardin, Tanis Half-Elven and hill dwarf Flint Fireforge try to find its hidden entrance. Inside the dwarven stronghold lies sanctuary -- and the legendary Hammer of Kharas, an artifact that could be used to defeat the Dark Queen once and for all.
